10 tips for young athletes

Dr. Michael Rohrenbach a family medicine physician at Harbour Pointe Clinic and team physician for the Everett AquaSox Baseball Club offers these 10 tips for young athletes.

  1. Be in shape before your season-conditioning will be less painful.
  2. Cross train with other activities and sports.
  3. Avoid repetitive activities with same muscle groups- this causes overuse injuries. See #2: Cross train!
  4. Stretch and warm up before practice and game.
  5. Eat well and keep well hydrated.
  6. See a doctor if you are not performing well or feeling well.
  7. Have fun!
  8. Be a good teammate.
  9. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
  10. Do well in school and keep perspective.
