Dr. Elizabeth Kurtz Barrido talks heel pain & summer footwear

Flip flops, summer shoes or those that mimic bare feet often contribute to the greatest amount of foot pain, says podiatrist Dr. Elizabeth Kurtz Barrido. Even footwear that is overly worn can lead to planter fasciitis. It is best to keep your summer shoes for the pool and wear structured, well supported footwear for daily activity. If you experience an onset of foot pain, begin to ice, stretch and take anti-inflammatory medication (ibuprofen) then, call your doctor.
