Swelling related to the menstrual cycle

Swelling (edema) may occur in women just prior to each menstrual period. This may be called cyclical edema because it is related to the menstrual cycle. This type of swelling is most likely related to hormonal changes. If your symptoms persist or become worse, discuss this with your health professional.
