To support YMCA of Snohomish County’s development plans, The Everett Clinic Foundation will give $150,000 and The Everett Clinic will give $350,000 over five years for a total gift of $500,000.
“The Y and The Everett Clinic both have long histories of caring for the health and wellness of our communities, so we’re pleased to be able to support its growth. Investing in the health of kids is a smart investment for our county,” said Everett Clinic Board President and cardiologist Dr. Harold Dash.
The gift supports the YMCA’s plans to break ground on a new location in Stanwood this summer as well as its plans to replace its Everett facility. Read the article in The Herald about the plans, “YMCA hopes new facilities spur a resurgence."
“We are very grateful for the donation from The Everett Clinic Foundation and The Everett Clinic,” said Scott Washburn, President/CEO, YMCA of Snohomish County. “Support of both projects will allow the YMCA to reach more people by nurturing the potential of children and teens, improving the health and well-being of the community, and supporting our families and neighbors."
The YMCA of Snohomish County has been serving the Snohomish County community since 1901, well over 100 years. It began serving the Stanwood-Camano community in 2012.
“We are impressed by the YMCA’s comprehensive child care program for low-income preschoolers, the before and after school care, and especially the Actively Changing Together program for pre-adolescents and teens with weight problems,” said pediatrician Dr. Katherine Runyon of The Everett Clinic Foundation. “The YMCA’s focus on positive wellness, community and family is outstanding.”
The Everett Clinic was founded by four physicians in 1924 in Everett more than 90 years ago. It opened its Stanwood Clinic, the northern most Clinic of its nine locations, in 1996. The new location for the YMCA in Stanwood at 7205 265th St NW is within walking distance of Stanwood High School and Port Susan Middle School and adjacent to The Everett Clinic, Stanwood Clinic, 7213 267th St NW.
“Support from community partners allows us to do our work, and the remarkable philanthropic support of the community and of the Y throughout the years by The Everett Clinic is honorable,” said Matt Reinhard, Chair, YMCA Capital Campaign Steering Committee. “This gift signals a strong confidence in the YMCA and the positive impact it has on communities throughout Snohomish County. It will allow the Y to triple the number of people served through programs and services.”
