As we age, our skin begins to wrinkle, our pores enlarge, we begin to have uneven skin tones, with age spots and brown spots, and even take on a dull appearance to our skin. Sun exposure and smoking will accelerate these changes. Sun tanning has the unappealing effects of increasing skin laxity, forming wrinkles, and producing age spots and unsightly veins. Smoking also significantly contributes to premature aging and wrinkling of the skin. There are many ways to improve the appearance of your skin without surgery, including at home skin creams and serums, and in office chemical peels and laser treatments. An at home skin regimen, including daily sunscreen use, is an excellent way to prolong your results from chemical peels and laser treatments. Let us develop an individualized skin care regimen to suit your needs and lifestyle.
Is it painful?
The pain varies depending on the depth of skin to be removed. More dramatic results require deeper skin resurfacing, which may result in more discomfort. Everything will be done to minimize pain during and after any procedure.
Where is the procedure done?
Most chemical peels and laser treatments can be done in the office. More extensive procedures such as a CO2 laser resurfacing or very deep chemical peel may be done in a same day surgery environment for your comfort.
How long do the procedures take?
It depends on the type and depth of treatment you receive. It may take anywhere from 5-30 minutes.
Are there lunchtime skin procedures that will give me good results?
Yes, there are procedures that can be done quickly in the office that will allow you to return to work immediately. However, these are less invasive procedures such as superficial chemical peels which do not cause much redness or downtime. They will improve skin texture and appearance, but are not typically enough to improve wrinkles.
