90-minute consultations with Dr. Deborah Zaret for pediatric patients who are having issues in school with learning, attention or behavior to help determine causes and appropriate next steps. The consultations focus on sleep, behavior, developmental delays, attention issues, dyslexia/dysgraphia/dyscalculia, or “something is not right and I don’t know what or where to start.” No referral is needed for the consultation. Our aim is to help support families by guiding them through the community, educational, and medical resources that can help their child.
What to expect
During your consultation with Dr. Zaret, she will spend 60-90 minutes performing a thorough history for your child. She will have your child perform various tests to assess attention, general behavior, and how well they write, read and break down words. The consultation will be individualized to your child based on their age and particular issue or struggle. Dr. Zaret may also screen for anxiety and ADHD as these can impact learning.
Dr. Zaret can diagnose and treat ADHD, anxiety, and depression if needed. She can screen for (but not diagnose) dyslexia and other learning issues and help you and your family figure out the appropriate interventions and next steps.
Your insurance should cover the consultation as an office visit, but It's a good idea to check your insurance plan before making an appointment so that you are familiar with your insurance coverage and co-pay requirements.
“I love pediatrics because it allows me to develop long-term relationships with families and enjoy the privilege of watching kids grow up over time.”
Dr. Zaret says she believes parents know best what is right for their children and it is her duty to educate them so they can make informed decisions to raise happy, healthy kids.
