We also have several important tips you can start on right away to help bring down your blood sugar:
  • Stop drinking sugar-sweetened beverages, such as regular soda and fruit juices with added sugar. Diet soda is acceptable.
  • Try to drink more water.
  • Limit the amount of fruit juice you drink to a half cup per day. It’s better to have two to three servings of a whole fruit per day.
  • Try not to eat candy, cookies and other sweets, at least for now.
  • Be aware of serving sizes. Try to eat less of the “starchy foods” like bread, potatoes and pasta.
  • Try to eat your daily amount of food between three meals. Try not to skip meals.
