Smoking Cessation — How to do it? First step is coming up with a quit date, staying motivated and putting it on your calendar so you’re fully aware, says practitioner Kristine Takamiya. If you’re a pack-a-day smoker, try and reduce five cigarettes from your daily pack. After a week has gone by, reduce your pack by another five until you’ve limited your quantity to three daily cigarettes. At this point you’re no longer dependent on the nicotine source and now only needs to break a habit. Smoking cessation is the first-line defense towards a better lifestyle and decreased risk of cardiovascular issues.
