Should I cancel my appointment if I am healthy?
We understand your concern. We are screening everyone entering any Everett Clinic location for symptoms and taking appropriate action. We're implementing measures to keep our patients and staff safe. If you're feeling healthy, we encourage you to keep your appointment.
What if I need to cancel my appointment due to symptoms?
On February 26, a patient presented at Silver Lake Clinic with viral symptoms that were non-specific. The individual was immediately masked and put into a private room, and had influenza, strep and blood tests performed. Health care personnel entering the room wore appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment). The patient was stable and was discharged to home. The patient had been initially evaluated in another facility and samples from that evaluation were submitted to the CDC, which led to the diagnosis. Patient appointment reminder letters for visits between February 3 through February 13 were sent out in spanish. This is a known error and patients do not need to take additional action.
The Everett Clinic, part of Optum, has taken a number of steps to prepare for the novel (new) coronavirus that originated last month in central China.
The new virus was officially reported by the World Health Organization on Jan. 9. The virus, which has symptoms similar to pneumonia, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and in some cases can cause death, is being closely monitored by world health officials. The Everett Clinic, part of Optum, have come to an agreement with Kaiser Permanente, allowing us to continue to accept Kaiser plans in 2020 for select services and locations.
