The Everett Clinic has earned a WELCOA Well Workplace Award for excellence in its employee wellness program from The Wellness Councils of America, welcoa.org, and recognition as one of America’s healthiest companies. The Clinic joins approximately 700 other employers nationally that have been recognized by WELCOA over the past 23 years.
“The Clinic’s wellness program links employee health efforts to incentives. We have had an 85 percent participation rate which is above average and illustrates the culture of wellness we have here,” said Everett Clinic Wellness Coordinator, Jody Byrne. “We have had a wellness program in place since the early 1990s. Since our current program was launched, we’ve been able to show that it helps hold down health care costs for the Clinic and its staff.”
WELCOA evaluated the Clinic’s wellness program for its: CEO support, wellness teams, data, planning, interventions, supportive environment, and outcomes. The Clinic achieved a gold rating earning 177.68 points out of a possible 180. The gold recognition is for comprehensive programs which are producing results.
The Well Workplace Award notes organizations which make employee wellness part of their business strategy and work to maximize the health of employees. The Everett Clinic’s Wellness Program includes an incentive-based Wellness Challenge® (designed with HealthForce Partners of Bothell) available to all benefits-eligible staff and physicians. One of the most popular features is the Commit To Get Fit team challenge. Nearly 100 teams from across the Clinic compete to earn activity points throughout the summer.
