Today, most gynecological procedures (surgery involving a woman's reproductive system) including hysterectomy (abdominal, vaginal, and laparoscopic) can be done in a minimally invasive way, through smaller incisions. This means less time needed for recovery and less pain.
The da Vinci Surgical System (robotic-assisted laparoscopy) is available in Everett for pelvic surgeries as an alternative to traditional open surgery. It enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through small incisions with extreme precision. Benefits may include smaller incisions, less blood loss, decreased postoperative pain, a short hospital stay and less scarring.
Physicians at The Everett Clinic use the latest techniques to provide the best options for their patients. Currently, Dr. Robert Andre, Dr. Quan Dau, Dr. Cliff Rogers and Dr. Leif Vold are using the da Vinci Surgical System to perform robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgeries.
“That investment of time (to train on the da Vinci System) has paid off for my patients many of whom are now able to have their problems dealt with in a way that allows them to get back to work, normal activities, and their families with a lot less pain and fewer complications,” said Dr. Cliff Rogers, who has done nearly 300 da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries.
Recently one of Dr. Roger’s patients sent a letter commending him, his medical assistant, Joanie Moody, and her nurse practitioner to Everett Clinic CEO, Rick Cooper.
“I value my customers’ input at my work and figured everyone has a boss, even a doctor, so I wanted to pass on how well my surgery went,” said Brenda Cook, General Manager of Pacific Copy and Printing. “I have done the printing for The Everett Clinic for many years and have been a patient of the Clinic for around 20 years.”
Brenda was referred by her OB/GYN nurse practitioner to Dr. Rogers for a complex hysterectomy.
“I have never had a doctor who I felt was more knowledgeable and personable than Dr. Rogers. This experience was better than I imagined. I am back at work and feel great! I had very little pain from the surgery. I called or emailed through MyChart a few times with questions and always got an immediate response from Dr. Rogers or Joanie.”
