The Expressive Art Therapy Group is designed as a safe and supportive environment where you can use art to explore and work through your thoughts and feelings.
Do you ever feel like words cannot adequately express what you are experiencing? Do your feelings ever seem too messy or difficult to address through talk therapy? If so, this group may be for you.
During art therapy groups, individuals work with a variety of art materials and the focus is on the artmaking process rather than the finished product. No prior art experience is required and materials are provided.
Artmaking can help individuals:
- Alleviate stress, pain and anxiety
- Reflect upon and work through areas of distress
- Explore feelings that are difficult to put into words
- Improve self-awareness
- Increase relaxation
- Improve emotional well-being
The group is facilitated by Kathryn Johnson, PhD, a registered art therapist and licensed psychologist. Costs are covered by most insurance plans. Please contact your insurance provider for more information about plan coverage.
