Rick Cooper is the Northwest Regional Market President for DaVita Medical Group. His experience, expertise and regional influence in the healthcare industry will help DMG expand the Washington market through planned growth and business development. He will provide leadership at the regional level working with the DMG national team. He will also serve as mentor and guide to the Clinic’s senior executive team and Clinical Leadership Board. His position will enhance two-way communication and The Everett Clinic will receive regular updates from him regarding regional business development, multi-market performance, and national DMG strategy.
In more than 30 years as Chief Executive Officer of The Everett Clinic, Mr. Cooper has helped establish The Everett Clinic as one of the most successful independent medical groups in the Pacific Northwest. With his leadership, TEC has become known for excellence in patient care, innovation in healthcare, being a great place to work and as a community philanthropist and champion. Mr. Cooper joined the Clinic in 1977 and became CEO in 1985.
The Everett Clinic has been cited for its quality improvement, service excellence, and cost lowering practices in the national media including Businessweek, US News & World Report and The New York Times. In 2012, the Clinic was featured as a high-quality, low cost healthcare provider on “U.S. Health Care: The Good News,” a PBS report.
In 2013, Mr. Cooper was named Executive of the Year by the Herald Business Journal, noted for his drive and passion for improving healthcare, and Henry M. Jackson Citizen of the Year by the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County, honored for exemplary service to the community. He’s also been a Seattle Business Magazine Top Healthcare Executive and finalist for the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Under his leadership, The Everett Clinic has been named a Top 100 Company to Work for by FORTUNE Magazine three times, a Great Place to Work in Healthcare by Becker’s Review, and the number one Large Company to Work For by Seattle Business Magazine. The Clinic has also been named a Top Corporate Philanthropist in Washington State by the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Mr. Cooper is active in professional associations at the state and national level. He is past Chairman of the American Medical Group Association and former President of the Washington State Medical Group Management Association. He is actively involved in community and civic organizations and serves on the Board of Trustees (Past Chair) for the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County. He supports local human services organizations and is a member of the Tocqueville Society, which aims to change lives through philanthropic leadership and giving.
He earned his master’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan.
